Vineyard: There is a continental climate in the area with hot summers and cold winters.The area is little susceptible to the north winds and the winds of the Atlantic because it is protected by the Serra Mesão. The soil consists mainly of granite and slate.
Vinficiation: This port comes from the best grape vines of ‘RD du Douro’ and is made and bottled according to the traditional method. Harvesting takes place between the beginning of September and the end of October. Fermentation in stainless steel cuves. The must undergoes a fermentation process, which is stopped by the addition of brandy of 77% when the desired sweetness is reached. The wine ages 2 months in barrels, after which it is separated from the sediment and the alcohol content if necessary gets adjusted. Afterwards, the port ripens for three years on large wooden barrels.
Tasting notes: Deep ruby red. Young, full-bodied port with aroma’s of ripe fruit (black stone fruit).
Food pairing: Serving at room temperature, suitable at any time of the day.
